Why are parts and labor more expensive for german cars compared to japanese?

Okay German cars are my favorite cars and that's all I ever want to drive, but I have a question. I'm having a very hard time understanding and accepting why parts, and labor are more expensive for german cars compared to Japanese. Japanese care are very good, and they have their luxury models. So why are parts and labor so much more for german cars!!Why are parts and labor more expensive for german cars compared to japanese?
Labour costs depend on where you go. Main dealers charge the earth. But it doesn't mean that they give better service than a trusted 'back street' garage will. As for the prices of parts, both of my cousins run old BMWs and both reckon that for the most part, the parts are competitive with japanese cars. Some parts are very expensive. Others far cheaper than you would expect. A lot of pricing seems to depend on the life span of the part in question. In other words a sparkplug will cost less than a lower arm because more sparkplugs are manufactured.

It helps to join a car club. The club can often get parts cheaper than you can and pass the saving on to their members. Or they may have a discount card for certain suppliers. Importing parts yourself can be cost effective too. My cousin used to run a volvo with a 350ci chevy engine in it. He could import parts from America which were cheaper with the carriage and packing than what he could buy them from in England. Why are parts and labor more expensive for german cars compared to japanese?
If you compare luxury brands to luxury brands, the Germans don't look quite so pricey in comparison, something I found out the first time I wandered into the local Infiniti/Porsche/Audi dealer. (I have an Infiniti.)Why are parts and labor more expensive for german cars compared to japanese?
Probably because German cars, other than VW/Audi, are of higher quality than Japanese cars.
