Which pontiac firebird model is the most improved/reliable: 00, 01, or 02. Pros and Cons?|||Personally, I like LS1(98-02) models more so, the TransAm. I purchased a brand new black 98 M6 T/A back in 97 and owned it until 01. When it got totaled and then, I went over to my present ride of the 02 A4 Camaro Z28.
Which if, I remember corrently the 98 model still had the OBDI 'puter in it. Then, The General switch over to the OBDII on-board 'puters. Which was known as the black box. Where it recorded the events before and durin an accident, like speed, braking and some other stuff. Which the OBDI on-board 'puter did not.

Good luck!|||The strong points are the engine and the styling. There are not many differences between the last years except I belive the 01 and 02 got the best intakes. The Firebirds never got a good reliablity rating probably because people drive them the way they should be.
I have a supercharged 94 Formula. I've had it for 3 years. I'm selling it now only due to other commitments. The plus on all the years is you can buy pretty much any replacement parts and tons of bolt ons.
You can drive the car tothe track, run a stock one in the high 12's or low 13's and drive home with the A/C on. My car is a blast to drive and I try to enjoy it as much as possible.
So pick any year and enjoy your ride.
