How does the Hybrid Cars help the environment compare to the normal cars?

They don't. The batteries themselves pollute the environment far more than any SUV.

The dorks and moms who get suckered into these cars pay a huge premium and so they don't save money on gas OR help the environment.

They've all been conned. I laugh at those ugly Prius.|||Well, first off, no type of vehicle "helps" the environment - some are simply better at producing less pollution and environmental damage than others.

The jury is still out on whether or not hybrid vehicles are a step in the right direction.

It's kind of like the florescent, curly-q light bulbs - they use significantly less energy while in use - but at what cost? It's doubtful that most are being recycled and far more likely that they are ending up in land fills all across the country.|||THey are designed to produce minimum pollution whilst the owner drive them, but

in actual fact they pollute the enviroment more by their manufacture than a normal car would.

so they are better for the enviroment when in use but not when in production.
