I hear people saying
American cars are junk compared to Foreign ones but looking at the prices I see that Honda Accord is considerably higher than a Ford Focus and a Chevy pick up is about 26000 brand new compared to the Nissan titan which is well over 30000.
Should the big 3 start making "higher end cars" ?|||I have no idea what the hell your talking about.
1. You ask why people compare higher priced cars like the Accord to the Taurus....Um....The Taurus is actually about 3,000-4,000 more than the Accord.
2. I normally hear people compare the Ford Fusion to the Honda Accord, not the Ford Taurus or the Focus.
3. Nissan Titans are competitively priced, they start at about $26,000.
And 4. No, they shouldn't.|||I think you have a valid point, but the problem is of course, financing. GMC (the largest finance company for GM vehicles) writes over 50% of its business for people with a credit score %26lt;700 (or did) Now, no way, they will tighten credit, making those higher priced cars and trucks (with higher profits margin) almost out of reach without a 3-5000 deposit (not likely). Although right now (4th Qtr) you can pick up a Pick up from Ford, GM or Dodge for much less (especially a 2008) than sticker price, and I mean big bucks (10-18000) off sticker. The Big 3 do sell just about every "high end" vehicle they make (Corvette, Viper,Ford GT40, Mustang etc) but Higher end profit require higher earning customers, and if you made 100,000 a year what would you buy? STS or BMW?|||By your own post, the comparison is the Accord to the Taurus, which is a fair comparison. The Focus should be compared to the Civic.
